Holiday Survival Guide


I don’t know about you, but we got through Halloween unscathed. My daughter actually hid her Halloween candy so it was a win-win for all of us! And luckily, I didn’t go overboard on over-eating our “ghoulish-themed” dinner but the temptation was definitely there. Man, why does Halloween seem to be the beginning of the glutton-filled holiday food marathon? Trust me, I ask this question every year.

So, this year I thought I would do something different! I’ve been going back and forth on ways to prevent myself from over-indulging and I decided to make a Survival Guide to get me through the upcoming holidays and to avoid a total food coma.

And, one thing I’ve learned is that you don’t have to make drastic food changes like starving ones-self, depriving yourself, or completely eliminating an entire food group from your diet. By choosing a healthy lifestyle I know following these 10 tips during the holidays or anytime will make for a successful outcome of being healthy during the holidays & not giving in to temptation and falling off the healthy bandwagon!

Here are my top 10 tips for getting through the holidays!

  1. Drink Plenty of Water

  2. Eat BEFORE Going to a Holiday Party or Social Event

  3. Don’t drink your calories

  4. Exercise regularly

  5. Eat in moderation

  6. Eat only when you’re hungry

  7. Eat less carbohydrates and more protein & veggies

  8. Don’t overeat to where you’re uncomfortable

  9. Don’t graze

  10. Modify recipes

Don’t let the holidays be an excuse to give in and give up on YOU!!! Think positive, feel good and be happy!
